The central bank to launch the euro banknotes media campaign on Sunday

On Sunday, 19 September 2010, a festive reception takes place in the Independence Hall of Eesti Pank, marking the official launch of the joint media campaign to introduce euro banknotes. Mr JEAN-CLAUDE TRICHET, President of the European Central Bank, will also present Mr ANDRES LIPSTOK, Governor of Eesti Pank, with the 17th Euro Star.

Estonia will adopt the euro in less than 100 days and to celebrate the changeover, President of the European Central Bank will hand over the 17th Euro Star to Governor of Eesti Pank. The event will include the first presentation of TV advertisements produced by the European Central Bank in Estonia to help the people of Estonia familiarise themselves with the euro banknotes and their security features.

After the festive reception there will be an informal meeting between members of Board of the European Central Bank and Eesti Pank.

The visit of the President of the European Central Bank may cause short-traffic changes in Estonia puiestee between 18.30 and 20.30. We apologise for possible inconveniences and thank you for your understanding.

The festive event at Eesti Pank will be attended by more than 160 guests and over 40 journalists from both Estonia and abroad.
