The new series of 25-kroon and 500-kroon banknotes will be put into circulation on 26 June 2008.

The new 25-kroon banknotes have the same design as the previous series issued in 2002. The new security features on the banknote are the signature of the Governor of Eesti Pank, Andres Lipstok, and the year of issue 2007. In addition, the UV-fluorescent rectangular has been moved: the new position is on the back, right-hand side, in the middle (middle and on the bottom edge in case of 2002 series).

The new 500-kroon banknotes have also the same design as the previous series issued in 2000. The new security features on the banknote are the signature of the Governor of Eesti Pank, Andres Lipstok, and the year of issue 2007. In addition, the UV-fluorescent rectangular has been moved: the new position is on the back, left-hand side, in the middle (middle and on the top edge in case of 2000 series).

The new banknote series were printed in Germany in 2007 by Gieseke & Devrient GmbH.

All the 25-kroon and 500-kroon notes issued before the 2007 series will also remain legal tender.

The security features of the new 25-kroon and 500-kroon banknotes are more thoroughly described on Eesti Pank's web site.
