Meeting of the Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank
Today, the Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank appointed Director-General of the Estonian Road Administration Aivo Adamson a member of the Supervisory Board of the Financial Supervision Authority on the proposal of Governor of Eesti Pank.
According to Jaan Männik, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank, Aivo Adams is experienced in banking and management. Adamson’s mandate starts on 1 July, when Valdo Randpere’s mandate comes to an end.
Members of the Executive Board of Eesti Pank gave the Supervisory Board an overview of the latest economic forecast of Eesti Pank and of the euro area economy.
The term of office of the current Chairman of the Supervisory Board Jaan Männik ends tomorrow and Mart Laar has been appointed the next Chairman of the Supervisory Board .
“Looking back, my term of office as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank has been a very busy time. A few months after I had been appointed, Lehman Brothers went bankrupt, dragging the global economy and Estonia into a deep crisis. Then Eesti Pank was engaged in changing over to the euro and becoming a central bank of the euro area. I am very happy that the Supervisory Board chose Ardo Hansson to take the office of Governor of Eesti Pank. I am also very pleased to pass the baton to the statesman Mart Laar, who has a very good sense of the Estonian society. I would like to thank the members of the Supervisory Board for fruitful cooperation,” said Jaan Männik.
The next regular meeting of the Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank will be held on 3 September.
