Economic Research at Eesti Pank

The economic research produced at Eesti Pank gives a scientific basis for taking decisions about monetary policy and financial stability. The high academic level of research and the practical orientation of research projects help the central bank to participate as meaningfully as possible in economic policy discussions in Estonia and in the European System of Central Banks. The research is also an input for the economic forecasts and financial stability reviews produced by the central bank.

The main research areas of Eesti Pank are:

  • developing a system of macroeconomic and banking models
  • monetary policy
  • the financial sector
  • the non-financial economy

The research also covers topics that are important in a general economic policy context.

The research produced at the bank is published as Eesti Pank working papers and in the Eesti Pank occasional papers series. To maintain the high scientific level of research, research papers are also published in peer-reviewed journals with international circulation and the research results are presented at scientific conferences. The Eesti Pank Economics and Research Department works closely with academic communities in Estonia and abroad.
