Eesti Pank is releasing an additional 8500 coin cards for the two-euro commemorative coin dedicated to Sipsik. The coin cards will go on sale at 09.00 on 3 August in the 100kingitust online shop and at 12.00 on 4 August in the Eesti Pank museum shop.

A total of one million Sipsik coins were minted, of which 17,000 are packaged on a coin card. The first 8500 coin cards went on sale in June when the coin was issued, and sold out very quickly. The second set of coin cards going on sale on 3 August is an additional issue of 8500. The additional release of coin cards does not increase the total number of coins minted. Each purchaser may buy no more than two coin cards.

Eesti Pank issued a two-euro coin with a special design at the start of June that is dedicated to the beloved character Sipsik from children’s storybooks, who has been a favourite among generations of readers and has inspired a love of books in tens of thousands of children. Two-euro commemorative coins with a special design are valid as legal tender throughout the euro area and they enter into circulation through shops.

• The coin cards will be available from the Eesti Pank museum at Estonia pst 11, Tallinn from 4 August during its opening hours from Tuesdays to Fridays 12.00-17.00 and on Saturdays 11.00-16.00. The Eesti Pank museum shop can be contacted on 668 0650.
• The coin card costs 12 euros and 40 cents. Each purchaser may buy no more than two coin cards, while there is no limit on purchases of the coins.

What are two-euro commemorative coins?

Commemorative coins are two-euro coins that are released into circulation, and that have a special commemorative design on the national side in place of the usual national design to commemorate a particular significant national or European event or topic. The coins are all legal tender throughout the euro area, so they can be used for payments like any other euro coin.
