Eesti Pank is announcing a competition to design a two-euro commemorative coin with a special design dedicated to veterans of the Estonian Defence Forces. The coin will enter circulation in 2027 and Eesti Pank will accept designs for the competition until 12.00 noon on 27 February.
The two-euro commemorative coin dedicated to veterans of the Estonian Defence Forces is part of the series of coins dedicated to Resistance and will recognise and honour those who have served the Estonian state and contributed to its security.
The idea behind the series of coins dedicated to Resistance is to recognise activities and groups that in one way or another helped resist the occupation of Estonia and stood up for an independent and free Estonia. A silver coin dedicated to the Forest Brothers will be issued in 2026 as part of the Resistance series.
The prize for the winner of the design competition is 3000 euros, with the second placed design receiving 2000 euros, and the third placed 1000. Individuals and groups of designers are welcome to participate in the design competition.
- The design must be submitted in black and white with the achromatic colours black, white and grey
- The design must show the different surfaces, including raised and lower areas, indicated by an explanatory text or key
- The design must be submitted on a sheet of A4 in portrait format in the scales of 1:1 and 4:1
- Designs should only be for the national side of the coin

- The national side must show the year “2027” and the text “EESTI”
- The name of the single currency, the euro, and the nominal value of the coin are not repeated on the national side
- Each variation on a design must each be presented as a separate design
- Each design must be submitted on a separate page and given a one-word title
- If multiple designs are submitted, they should each have separate keywords
- Each design must be accompanied by a sealed envelope containing the designer’s details, and nothing should be written on the envelope except the keyword title of the design
For more on the competition, see the Eesti Pank website. Designs that do not conform to the technical or other terms and conditions of the design competition will be neither considered nor assessed.
Designs should be sent to Eesti Pank by 12.00 noon on 27 February 2026 at the latest. The results of the competition will be announced by Eesti Pank by 30 July 2026 at the latest.
Eesti Pank is happy to receive suggestions for collector coins and two-euro commemorative coins to be issued through the bank’s website. Suggestions are sent to an advisory committee that provides expert opinions for Eesti Pank, and its opinions are used by the management of Eesti Pank when they decide on which commemorative and collector coins to issue.
