Eesti Pank is inviting entries to the competition for its research award

Eesti Pank has announced the competition for the research award for economic research, which is dedicated to the memory of Urmas Sepp and open to students in Estonian universities who are engaged in master’s or doctoral studies, and economists who have completed their master’s or doctoral studies within the past four years. Economists who are studying in foreign universities or have graduated from one are also invited to enter if they have ties to Estonia. The deadline for submitting entry documents is 15 September.

In 2025 Eesti Pank will grant the award in two categories, with one award of 3000 euros for research leading to a PhD thesis or done as part of doctoral studies, and the other of 2000 euros for research leading to a master’s dissertation or done as part of a master’s course.

Eesti Pank is inviting students in Estonian universities who are engaged in their master’s or doctoral studies, and economists who have completed those studies within the past four years to enter the competition for its research award. Economists who are studying in foreign universities or have graduated from one are also invited to enter if they have ties to Estonia. Eesti Pank will announce the results of the competition by 31 October 2025 at the latest. Eesti Pank reserves the right not to grant the award if none of the research papers submitted are of the required quality.

Urmas Sepp (1956–2002) was the head of the Eesti Pank macroeconomics department and later the economic research department in 1993–2002.
