Eesti Pank is looking for a design for a silver collector coin dedicated to the Estonian athletes at the Olympic Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Designs can be submitted to the central bank until 12.00 noon on 28 February. The coin will be issued in early 2026.
Eesti Pank will issue a silver collector coin with a nominal value of 15 euros dedicated to the Estonian athletes attending the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Eesti Pank has a long tradition of issuing collector coins for the Olympics, going back to 1992. The central bank has previously issued 13 Olympic coins.
Individuals and groups of designers are welcome to participate in the design competition, and designers may submit multiple designs to each competition.
Designs should be submitted to the competition in black and white and each one on a separate page. Each design must be given a one-word title. If a designer submits multiple designs, each design should have a separate title. Variations on designs must each be presented as separate designs. Each design must be accompanied by a sealed envelope containing the designer’s details; the requirements are described in more detail in the conditions for the competition.
Designs that do not conform to the technical or other terms and conditions of the design competition will be neither considered nor assessed.
Designs should be sent to Eesti Pank by 12.00 noon on 28 February 2025 at the latest. The results of the competition will be announced by Eesti Pank in July 2025 at the latest.
The prize for the winner of the design competition is 3000 euros, with the second placed design receiving 2000 euros, and the third placed 1000.
Suggestions for minting collector coins or two-euro coins with a special design* are welcome from everyone, and can be sent through the Eesti Pank website, by email or by post. All the suggestions are considered by an advisory committee invited by Eesti Pank, and their expert opinions and recommendations are used as the basis for the Executive Board of Eesti Pank to decide which coins to mint.
* Eesti Pank commemorates historical events on the coins, and also themes that are alive and relevant for us today. A two-euro coin with a special design dedicated to the Estonian national flower, the cornflower, was issued into circulation in 2024 for example, and a coin for 500 years of books in Estonian has been issued in 2025. Coins with these special designs are called commemorative coins, Commemorative coins give tribute and remember events, people and themes that are important for Estonia and all of Europe.
