At Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Eesti Pank Supervisory Board, Head of the Eesti Pank Payment and Settlement Systems Department Rainer Olt reviewed the work of the round table to counter payment fraud that has now started work, and presented the recent summary of payment fraud in 2024.

The five-year term of office of Deputy Governor Veiko Tali ends at the end of December. The Supervisory Board decided to award Veiko Tali a bonus of two months of pay to recognise his contribution to the work of the central bank during his term of office. Mr Tali has worked to improve crisis readiness in the financial sector and to make financial supervision more efficient during his term of office. He has chaired the Estonian Payment Forum and taken an active role in developing the digital euro in the high-level working group of the European Central Bank. He was also part of the European Central Bank working group that helped produce proposals for simplifying regulation in the financial sector that the European Central Bank presented on Thursday.

Governor Madis Müller also gave the Board the regular review of the economy in the euro area and Estonia, and Deputy Governor Ülo Kaasik presented the economic forecast of the bank that is currently being written and will be published on 19 December.

The Supervisory Board confirmed its own working schedule for 2026 and extended the working schedule of the internal audit for next year. The Board also received a review of the planned budget of the central bank for next year. The Executive Board of the central bank plans to approve the Eesti Pank budget 2026 in the second half of December.

After the meeting, members of the Board had a meeting with Eesti Pank Governor Madis Müller.

The next meeting of the Eesti Pank Supervisory Board will be on 27 January.
