At its meeting on Tuesday, the Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank approved the new composition of the Fiscal Council, which will start work in mid-May. Peter Lõhmus will continue as Chair of the Fiscal Council and the new members will be Viljar Arakas and Robert Kitt.

The composition of the Fiscal Council for the next five years will be Chair Peter Lõhmus, Vice-Chair Viljar Arakas and members Karin Jõeveer, Ülo Kaasik, Robert Kitt and Martti Randveer.

The members of the Fiscal Council are nominated to office by the Eesti Pank Supervisory Board at the proposal of the Governor of Eesti Pank.

Eesti Pank Governor Madis Müller gave board members the regular review of the state of the economy in the euro area and Estonia, and Eesti Pank economist Peeter Luikmel described the state of the economies in Estonia’s neighbours.

The Supervisory Board also clarified the code of professional conduct for its members. The code was written in 2016 and was last updated in 2016.

The next meeting of the Eesti Pank Supervisory Board will be on 14 May.
