Virtual asset service providers (VASP) were able to operate under a licence issued by the Financial Intelligence Unit until 30 June 2026, but from 1 July 2026, crypto asset service providers (CASP) are supervised by Finantsinspektsioon, which also issues licences for them.

There are currently too few crypto asset service providers operating under a licence from Finantsinspektsioon in Estonia for Eesti Pank to be able to release statistics on the market in crypto assets and a corresponding statistical release for the third quarter of 2026. Whether statistics are compiled and a statistical release issued in subsequent quarters will depend on how many new service providers enter the market, if any.

The statistics on providers of crypto asset services cover data on those service providers operating with a licence from the Financial Intelligence Unit. The statistical release describes the main changes in the statistics on providers of crypto asset services, covering assets, including the volume and structure of assets owned by clients, the services provided to clients, and the financial results of the service providers. The release is independent of economic policy releases and is presented separately from them.
