The Estonian economy appears to be in a frozen state as the year ends, as total output from the domestic economy has remained at the same level since the previous quarter. The picture across different sectors shows however that there have been important changes and the improved outlook for the economy bears witness to export volumes starting to grow. A large part of the earlier decline in the economy came from the hit taken by the exporting sector, and exports recovering again is a key requirement for a lasting increase in economic activity. The latest data show that the weak figures for exports in the third quarter were fortunately only temporary, and that the growth in exports of goods seen in the first half of the year continued after the dip.
