Eesti Pank announces the competition for the research award dedicated to the memory of Urmas Sepp

Eesti Pank has announced the competition for the research prize in economics, which is dedicated to the memory of Urmas Sepp and open to current or former master-level or doctoral students at Estonian universities. The deadline for submitting entry documents is 15 September.

In 2023 Eesti Pank will grant the award in two categories, with one award of 3000 euros for research leading to a PhD thesis or done as part of doctoral studies, and the other of 2000 euros for research leading to a master’s dissertation or done as part of a master’s course.

The competition is open to anyone who is under 40 when the competition is announced and is studying on a master’s or doctoral course accredited by the Estonian Ministry of Education. The competition is also open to anyone who is under 40 and has already received a master’s degree or a doctoral degree from such a course. If groups of researchers enter the competition, all the members of the research group must meet these conditions.

Eesti Pank will announce the results of the competition by 1 November 2023 at the latest. Eesti Pank reserves the right not to grant the award if none of the submitted research papers meet the required quality.

Urmas Sepp (1956-2002) was the head of the Eesti Pank macroeconomics department and later the economic research department in 1993-2002.
