The Supervisory Board of Eesti Pank declared the design Inclusio by Merilin Pedastsaar and Priit Pedastsaar as the winning design in the design competition for the silver coin dedicated to the athletes attending the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

The winning designers explained that Inclusio, which is Latin for ‘inclusion’, reflects the founding ideal of the Olympics that sport serves not only for finding out who is the best in a given discipline, but also for bringing together different nations, parts of society, and individuals. A great result is not the achievement of the athlete alone, as they always have with them a team, spectators, competitors and supporters.

The design Inclusio by Merilin Pedastsaar and Priit Pedastsaar wants to involve everyone in the winter Olympics.

The main feature of the winning design is a QR code that links to the website of the Estonian Olympic Committee, and the words EESTI VABARIIK, or Republic of Estonia, written in Braille with the appearance of falling snow. The collector coins will be issued by Eesti Pank in January 2026. The silver collector coin has a nominal value of 15 euros and 3000 will be minted.

Second place went to a design by Svetlin Balezdrov, and third place to Angeliina Birgit Liivlaid.

Preparations will be made to mint the coin from the winning design from the design competition, and the design may be altered for technical reasons.

The prize for the winner of the design competition is 3000 euros, with the second placed design receiving 2000 euros, and the third placed 1000.

Suggestions are sent to an advisory committee that provides expert opinions for Eesti Pank, and its opinions are used by the management of Eesti Pank when they decide on which commemorative and collector coins to issue.
