Eesti Pank will release a silver collector coin on Monday 6 May 2024 dedicated to the Estonian athletes at the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris. Eesti Pank has a long tradition of issuing collector coins for the Olympics, going back to 1992. The central bank has previously issued 12 Olympic coins.
The silver coin designed by Liis Dvorjanski shows the light still iridescent and a glow in the sky, forming the silhouette of the Eiffel Tower. The disk of the sun, the source of our vital energy, appears at the peak, leading the athletes towards their goal of a medal. The coin has a nominal value of ten euros and is being minted in the Lithuanian Mint.
The designer of the coin Liis Dvorjanski studied fine arts at the Estonian Academy of Art and applied architecture at TTK University of Applied Sciences. She currently works for the design studio Tuules. Other designs by Liis Dvorjanski for collector coins have earlier been chosen by Eesti Pank. Her designs were used in 2012 for the silver coin for the Olympic Games in London and in 2021 for the coin for the games in Beijing, and for the collector coin in the form of a medallion to celebrate the centenary of the Estonian National Museum in 2008.
