There are still two weeks to submit designs for four coins

Eesti Pank is accepting entries to the four coin design competitions announced in December until 26 February at 12.00. The coins will be issued in 2022.

At the proposal of the advisory committee operating at Eesti Pank, the central bank will issue the following coins in 2022:

  1. A silver collector coin dedicated to the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in Beijing
  2. A gold collector coin dedicated to the Livonian Diet
  3. A silver collector coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Johan Pitka
  4. A two-euro circulation coin for the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Society of Estonian Literati

Detailed conditions for entering the design competitions can be found by clicking on the names of the coins.

Both individuals and groups of designers are welcome to participate in the design competition, and designers may submit multiple designs to the competition. Designs for all the competitions should be sent to Eesti Pank by 12.00 on 26 February 2021 at the latest.

The prize for the winner of each design competition is 1500 euros, the second placed design receiving 1000 euros, and the third placed 700. The results of the competitions will be announced in May at the latest.

Suggestions for minting collector and commemorative coins are welcome from everyone, and can be sent through the Eesti Pank website, by email or by post. Suggestions for coins to be minted in 2023 can be sent until the end of August this year. All the suggestions are considered by an advisory committee invited by Eesti Pank, and their expert opinions and recommendations are used as the basis for the Executive Board of Eesti Pank to decide which coins to mint.

Eesti Pank commemorates historical events on the coins, and also themes that are alive and relevant for us today, like the Finno-Ugric peoples and the Estonian national animal, the wolf, for which two-euro coins with special designs will be released in 2021. Commemorative coins give tribute and remember events, people and themes that are important for Estonia and Europe.
