Photographs and speech: President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde visits Estonia

The President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde visited Estonia on 4 November and gave a public lecture at Eesti Pank on the monetary policy of the euro area. Eesti Pank Governor Madis Müller gave out the Eesti Pank research awards at the same event.

The President of the European Central Bank met members of the Eesti Pank executive board, the Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and the Minister of Finance Annely Akkermann during her visit to Tallinn. She also took the opportunity to hold a discussion over lunch about digital development in Estonia and the funding opportunities for startups and rapidly growing companies. The Estonian startup community was represented at the lunchtime discussion by Sten Tamkivi of Plural Platform, Merit Valdsalu of Single.Earth, Karoli Hindriks of Jobbatical.com, and Markus Villig of Bolt, while Luukas Kristjan Ilves participated from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. The winners of the Eesti Pank research awards, Triinu Tapver and Pearl Etie, also attended the lunch. During her visit, Christine Lagarde gave an interview to the ETV programme Välisilm.
